NOTE THIS IS NOT ONE OF OURS...BUT A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF "WHY CHOSSE US"

SHEFFIELD...Oh isn't this just terrible! You might think this is a joke, but it's not, this was created by a "Professional Landscaper", so, somebody that does this for a living? Somebody that charges 1,000's for this disgusting quality of work, somebody that goes around and convinces trusting people that they can build natural waterfeatures!

If you can bear it you can see lots more like this one in our "BEWARE OF SELF-STYLED POND EXPERTS/GLORIFIED POND "CLEANERS" chapter in The Water Gardens Index!

Next the "natural" stream that goes with it...

NATURAL STREAM...REALLY?
This is exactly as we found it, nothing has been changed to make it look worse, this, the Contractor said to the client is finished!

So we took it apart and rebuilt it for the poor trusting client to how it should look, just like the picture next...

Ref CROSTON/Lanc's...created by our Yorks and North UK branch

Here's one WE did earlier (properly)...all 100% man-made. Specialist growing areas have to be created for a stream like this (at the design/digging out stage) to sustain different plants needs, some a little moist, others very wet.

And only then can you get a wide variety of plants to grow, and with the plants come the wildlife.

You will find more on this and other wildlife projects, further down the MAIN INDEX

Ref HAMPTON/Swan...Complex but very effective, these are "Multi Falls"...which means they are created by fixing several flat stones together (but not just any old stones, specially picked stones, stones picked by me, and my men, from 1,000's of tons of rubbish stones, destined for Landscapers), to form an interesting cascade of water. The idea is that one pours onto another.

Some potential clients call us and say..."we've seen your work on the internet, it's exactly what we want, are you expensive?" We point out that to get the effects that they have seen (and obviously like), requires masses of "time consuming attention to detail", as you can see above!

To get this effect you need to pump a high volume of water...in this example about 30,000 lph into a pool of about 14' x 10'.

Ref CHELSEA98 "The Quarrymans Garden" Royal Horticultural Society GOLD MEDAL.

This large "Natural Fall" (that's the one in the background and this flat waterfall rock is 5' wide and a very rare rock to find that big in a single peice, but that's where our expertise comes in)! requires about 50,000 lph to be this impressive. What you see in the foreground are actually Stepping Stones designed as mini-weirs, which adds even more interest to crossing the water.

This water garden, packed with native plants, attracted a very rare form of garden life, we think it came in from over the Thames, there's a picture next. It just arrived and sat there for long periods staring into space...

Alan those shoes!

Ref CUMBRIA...Suitable for a small pool, this is several rocks (but again not just any old rocks, these are rocks that are patiently searched for), combined and fixed together to make a small rock face and an unconventional waterfall. Note that this rock type is only availabe now as "reclaimed", so if you have an old rock garden made from Westmorland Limestone, give us a call if you want to sell it.

UNUSUAL AND COMPLEX FORMAL FEATURE created by our Hampshire Branch in The New Forest

Ref OUR OWN GARDEN at CHELSEA2000...Here you can see about 20,000 lph pouring over two rocks...taking up about 4' of space and pouring into a pool of about...11' x 9'.
The pool feeds a "Natural Stream" (mass planted with waterside plants), which in turn feeds a Main Pool.

Ref CHELSEA94...Here's a small stream (built at the Chelsea Flower Show and awarded a GOLD MEDAL, and part of a much larger exhibit), which is mass planted with moisture loving plants...pouring just 15,000 lph and making gentle noises on it's journey.

Suitable for any small pool...here the pool is tiny, that's because the stream itself is only about 4' long, so that the maths make it practical for just a small pool.

This type of feature is an alternative to a conventional waterfall with a header pool.

Ref SUNBURY...a natural slate stream created by our Surrey Branch

To get this effect will require 30,000 lph.
